In 2016, the International Cheerleading Union (ICU) was recognized by the IOC as a provisional sport.

According to the IOC ‘after the provisional recognition period, the ICU demonstrated that they fulfilled all the requested criteria. Their statutes, practice and activities conform with the Olympic Charter, and they have adopted and implemented the World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions.’

What does that mean?

We are one step closer to being recognized as an Olympic Sport. The IOC Session, which will meet in Tokyo ahead of the Olympic Games, is set to decide upon the EB’s recommendation.  Keep your fingers crossed!
